Napa Valley Farming Focus:
Oakville and the Two Mountains

For many years the Oakville AVA and surrounding area has been regarded as an ultimate source for the finest quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. Taste great wines from Valley Floor vineyards in Oakville and Higher Elevation vineyards from the mountains on each side – Pritchard Hill to the East and Mt. Veeder to the West. Learn how fruit grown at different elevations creates nuances and diversity in these super high-quality wines. Hear from three expert winemakers about how they farm and craft their wines to get the very best from these amazing sites and see how the intricacies of growing in these locations’ different conditions impact the final product.

Celebrity Chef Cooking Demonstration Luncheon

Celebrity Chef and Hotelier Charlie Palmer’s Pigs & Pinot in Healdsburg is one of the most popular charity wine events in the country. Chef Charlie will give it a Hawaiian twist at this luncheon with signature dishes and wine pairings from the event’s famous Pinot Cup wineries with “Brotherhood of Pinot” rockstars Mike Sullivan of Benovia and Dan Kosta of Convene Winery. Come “Let’s grind, hang out and talk story” with these longtime friends and industry legends!

Signature Winemaker Dinner

In a beautiful outdoor setting, an intimate six-course dinner prepared by celebrity chefs Charlie Palmer, Maneet Chauhan of Food Network’s “Chopped,” and Zach Laidlaw of Hua Momona Farms and FOX’s “Next Level Chef,” along with The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua’s Executive Chef George Vanyi and Pastry Chef Erin Howard.
The top wineries and winemakers from the Kapalua Wine & Food Festival will be at this special dinner, including David Long/David Arthur Vineyards; Michael Kennedy/SOM; Dan Kosta/DK Grail; Austin Hope/Hope Family Wines; Josh Orr, MS/Chateau Musar; and Hélène Seillan/Vérité. The event will open with an elegant champagne reception with Petrossian caviar bumps and hors d’oeuvres.

Caviar Expert Christopher Klapp will share tastes of exclusive and rare caviar from the world-famous Petrossian label. Expertly paired with Special Club Champagne Wines from Sommelier and Grace Under Pressure Champagne Importer Christine Mercnik.
Special Club is the Highest Classification of “Grower Champagne.” Small independent grower producers are making the most exciting and sought after wines in Champagne today. They may only be made in outstanding years.

Buena Vista’s Vice President of Winemaking Brian Maloney will be on hand to discuss the wine pairings.
