Trombetta Family Wines
Raised in Santa Rosa, Rickey Trombetta spent a lot of her formative years in her Italian father’s garden and her mother’s kitchen. She learned how food you grow yourself can become magic when it hits the table. Rickey’s father, a local doctor with many members of the burgeoning wine community as patients, liked to entertain. His sense of hospitality was handed down to Rickey and her husband, Roger Stancliff, as they became absorbed with a home winemaking group at work. Enjoying the creative possibilities of wine, she seized upon an opportunity to work alongside winemaker Paul Hobbs and become involved in all aspects of the process. Her duties ranged from working in the vineyard and winery, to the less-glamorous marketing and sales tasks that are so important to keeping a winery afloat. After taking additional academic winemaking and marketing courses, she felt ready to chart her own course and founded Trombetta Family Wines, with her first release from the 2010 vintage.
In addition to her work at the winery, Rickey farms a monumental home garden, growing a broad range of vegetables and fruit. Bees and chickens are part of the equation too, all helping to daily reinforce the enduring connection between family, food, and wine.
